Cake Care Instructions

We do our best to prepare & support your cake for transport.

We have several helpful suggestions for traveling with

& storing your cake so it arrives in great condition

Follow these instructions to ensure your cake is served beautifully & taste delicious.

Pick-up/ Carrying the cake:

Make sure to keep the cake is level when you carry it /

transport it (avoid putting it on a slanted car seat).

Don’t squeeze the sides of the box because the frosting may stick to the box.

When carrying your cake, please place both hands underneath

the cake to support the cake and the board.

Transporting your cake:

Cakes travel best when they are cold. All of our cakes/cupcakes are refrigerated prior to delivery or pick up to ensure smooth transportation.

Before pick up or traveling to your next destination, please put the A/C on full blast to cool down the car completely. This is an essential step for warmer days and longer trips, and very helpful regardless of distance or time.

Always keep the box/cake level. Do not tilt cake box.

• Make sure to support the bottom of the box when carrying

• Secure a flat & level surface in your car to place cake during transport

(Passenger floorboard is ideal).

We do not recommend having someone hold the cake on their lap.

We do not recommend placing the cake in the seat of a car.

•  Cake & frosting get very soft in warm environments.

---Never leave cake in a hot car or in the trunk!

---Allow extra time for transporting your cake to the event site. Drive slow. Try to avoid sudden stops.

Traveling with your cake after pick up:

If you will be traveling with your cake after you take it home, we recommend keeping it refrigerated so the cake will be nice and firm for travel and of course, drive carefully and avoid slamming your brakes or turning sharply.

Cake Storage:

The cake should be refrigerated up to 1-3 hours before serving. Remove cake from refrigerator and let sit at room temperature to develop best flavor and texture. Tiered cakes take longer to warm up, so let sit at least 2 hours before serving. Store leftover cake in refrigerator.  (Red Velvet, Carrot, Fruit and cakes with Cream Cheese Frosting should stay refrigerated up to 30 minutes to 1 hour before serving)  Never freeze a fondant cake.

Run knife between cake bottom and cake board. Use a long knife to cut slices, cleaning blade with damp towel between cuts if possible. Do not cut yourself. Watch for and remove all dowels, sugar flowers, sugar characters and support material before serving.

• Keep cake away from direct sunlight, moisture, & heat as it may dry out, fade, or the frosting could melt

• Remove all dowels, wires, and support material (if any) before serving

• Once the cake has been cut, the exposed cake should be covered with plastic wrap or foil and then refrigerated to keep it from drying out.

***Cupcakes should be placed in an air tight container to maintain freshness.

• Fondant and Buttercream protects the cake for up to 5 days

Once the cake is delivered or picked up, all responsibility belongs to the client and is no

longer the responsibility of Eva Christine's Sweets.
